I think what I love most about this repeating line in the Hunger Games, “May the odds be in your favor”, is that when Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Haymitch, Prim, Cinna, Rue, Johanna, Finnick, Madge, yes all of the ones who die, are successful it’s not at all about the odds or about luck.

They win, because they love, because they show that there is goodness in darkness. It’s not about probability; that will not get you far. It’s that undying spirit of wanting justice above all odds that overcomes any odds against them. Success is born mostly out of intention, and pushed on by luck.

Katniss’ story is all about proving the popular Capital saying wrong. She’s about people being in her favor and the power of the revolution. It’s not about just one person, it’s about that leader and how the followers fit into the picture. Live on, despite the odds against you.
